Description

Blues Breakers is the second studio blues album credited to John Mayall with Eric Clapton.  It was released on 22 July 1966.

The album is also known as Beano because its cover photograph shows Clapton reading The Beano, a children's comic. Clapton stated in his autobiography that he was reading The Beano on the cover because he felt like being "uncooperative" during the photo shoot.

The album consists of blues standards by long-established artists such as Otis Rush, Freddie King and Robert Johnson, as well as a few originals penned by Mayall and Clapton. Most tracks serve as a showcase for Clapton's playing. Although he sang on several Yardbirds' recordings, "Ramblin' on My Mind" was Clapton's first recorded solo lead vocal performance.  I can't say enough about this album.  It's a perfect slice of British blues in the Chicago style and many critics consider Clapton's guitar tone and playing on this album to be influential in the artistic and commercial development of rock-styled guitar playing.  But then, if you are looking to buy a copy you probably know that.

I bought this copy new in 1966 and have owned it ever since.  As you can see from the photographs it is very good condition for its age and I am selling it only because I am downsizing and am getting rid of my collection of vinyl.
