This is the 1957 "RVG"-etched, Deep Groove, "P"-pressing  of  JOHNNY GRIFFIN's "Johnny Griffin Vol. 2", aka "A Blowing Session", on the "47 West 63rd New York 23" labels of Blue Note BLP 1559. Musicians include Lee Morgan (trumpet), John Coltrane, Johnny Griffin, Hank Mobley (tenor sax), Wynton Kelly (piano), Paul Chambers (bass), Art Blakey (drums).

VINYL has very low-level surface noise with occasional ticks. Some tracks dead quiet. Vinyl Plays very well overall; instruments are clear, very rich, extra!-dynamic. Powerful, clean, kicking! One 1" feelable mark; vinyl glossy. No distortion. No locked grooves. No warps. The "47 West 63rd labels" are clean with spindle wear. Except for periods of low level surface noise, this disc is in exceptional condition.

LAMINATED COVER is in excellent shape, spine in excellent shape; Bottom seam: excellent; Top seam: excellent. Corners worn. Minor peeling of laminate at jacket opening. See photos. "BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 47 West 63rd St., New York 23" back jacket in nice condition; minor aging and lower-edge stain, see photos.

    

This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
