JOHNNY HARRIS - MUSIC FROM THE SOUNDTRACK BLOOMFIELD. Pye Records NSPL18376 UK Stereo LP 1972. ORIGINAL PRESSING ON BLUE PYE LABEL WITH LAMINATED SLEEVE AND ORIG POLY INNER. Condition: VG+(light storage wear, large blue sticker top right - could be easily removed but may denote a Pye Demo pressing?)/VG+(light surface marks).
Original sound track album from the Richard Harris directed soccer drama composed by Johnny Harris with modern light pop psychedelic songs including The Loner composed by Maurice Gibb and Billy Laurie (Lulu's brother), played by The Bloomfields and songs from Heads, Hands & Feet and J. Vincent Edwards. Recorded in 1969 but held until the film was released by 20th Century-Fox, UK in 1972. Cool Richard Harris and Romy Schneider original British quad film poster artwork!

"What is it about music for mediocre films that drives it so deep down into the subconscious? At the time of viewing Richard Harris' first essay in direction, I remember only the stultifying boredom of the film itself, yet I turn on the soundtrack with an almost intuitive anticipation. I do not recall the music, and that's the truth. There are no images jumping up in the cluttered background of my mind to accompany the gentle melodies and rousing pop songs. Fortunately, it is an album that stands apart from its parent film, you do not need to have seen the story of Israels's number one footballer facing a crisis of physical strength and emotional anxiety. Anyway the sleeve notes are ample when it comes to plot synopsis even if they omit to detail the performing artists themselves. And what of the composers? There is a Harris and a Johnny Harris. Is the other no less a soul than Richard himself? And what of Miller, Mason and Connery? Ann, James and Sean? Now there's an album for you! As it is, I shall treasure it for its unexpected variety and the unalteringly excellent contributions of its anonymous performers."
