MEGARARE and HARD-TO-FIND original Odeon Records very first Mono press released, made and distributed in Chile in 1971 by Industrias Eléctricas y Musicales Odeon S.A. (Odeon Records Chile), licensed from Bell Records through EMI subsidiary label Stateside Records, UK, catalog number DSS 13045, with hand etched matrix numbers BLL 1128-A 1 in Side A and BLL 1128-B 1 in Side B, with white/red/black EMI Odeon Records labels, with big red boxed Odeon logo at top and small boxed EMI logo at bottom, and 4-prong push-out center. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER GREAT FIND FROM CHILE!!!

“(Blame It) On The Pony Express” is the first single released by Johnny Johnson & His Bandwagon, previously known as The Bandwagon, in October 1970 in the UK and in December 1970 in USA, and we had to wait until 1971 to see this single released here in Chile. Song titles are written in English, translated to Spanish, with full credits for songwriters and for Uncle Lew Warburton for arrangements and direction, with additional information about licenses and play time of each song and price. A fact to notice is that Chilean matrix numbers takes the original Bell Records catalog number of the single, “BLL 1128”!!! And it’s also interesting t osee this copy has 1/1 stampers!!! So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS of this debut single by Johnny Johnson & His Bandwagon, with Spanish-written song titles and 1/1 stampers, a record almost never seen and maybe auctioned here in eBay by the very first time!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Johnny Johnson, The Bandwagon and Northern Soul and Funk/Disco music of the early ‘70’s!!!

This record doesn’t come with a cover. The record is in VG- or VG condition both sides, glossy and clean, with loads and loads of scuffs, light hairlines and some soft and not so soft scratches, which don’t affect play at all, with the push-out center intact. Labels are in VG+ or EX- condition both sides, with some spindle hole wear, light age browning, some very faint blemishes and the name of a past owner in Side B. The sound is in strong VG or VG+ condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (background noise was normal in records from Chile), with constant soft crackles and some occasional light clicks, more evident in the first and last seconds of songs, which don’t cause major distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is a great record in this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS, with Spanish-written song titles and 1/1 STAMPERS, maybe not for the strictest Minty minds or audiophiles, but with a nice glossy look, great labels labels and still a great sound quality after about 51 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean pressing!!! And, yes Sirs, WHAT A FIND AGAIN!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels in detail. WOW!!!

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.
