Way back in the early 1990s, New Jersey producer Jovonn decided to launch his own label, Goldtone, rather than submit his deep and seductive garage-house jams to the popular nNu Groove label. When the label re-emerged late last decade, he finally joined the roster and here returns with a second sensational EP. He begins with 'I Lost Control', where tweaked and trippy vocal samples and spacey, warehouse-ready synth stabs ride a deep bassline and infectious, snare-heavy drums, before admiring the hybrid deep house/tech-house swell of 'Jupiter'. On 'Random (Jovonn's Comon Mix)' he doffs a cap to his groovy garage-house productions of old (which, of course, is a very good thing indeed), while 'React' blends acid-adjacent bottom end with dreamy deep house colour.
