 Jaki Byard (p), Ron Carter (b), Roy Haynes (d)  Recorded 1961

 

Purple and silver label with deep groove. "RVG" in the runouts on both sides. " 203 So. Washington Ave. Bergenfield, N.J."  address on back cover. 

 

 Record looks and plays VG++.  Pressing quality is quite good unlike many New Jazz records.  There's a very light scuff at beginning of Side 1 which does not affect play.   Record plays well, mostly M- with VG+ to VG++ on quiet parts.  Grooves do not look worn or gray.  There's a hole punch through the label.   

The cover is VG+.

  The front cover is shiny with light wear. There's 2 spots where the slick is worn away at the pocket and a hole punched through, right in the middle. The back cover has "PREVIEW COPY" stamp, moderate to heavy wear and fading.  2 tears with missing slick at the spine. Bottom seam is heavily worn and split 1/2 inch at the pocket.  Top seam split app 1/4 ich at the pocket. Spots of heavy wear and denting at the corners.

 My highest grade is M- and I rarely grade 50s or 60s records M-. Records are graded visually using the Goldmine system. M-, VG++, VG+, VG, VG- etc. I play grade any potential problem areas.  I attempt to grade conservatively, listing all significant flaws. You will be satisfied.  No hassles.
