Description
For sale is Gerry Garcia's Garcia, originally released in 1972 by Warner Brothers Records. This is an original first pressing with the green label with "Warner Brothers Records" along the top, and the WB logo shield underneath it. In 1973, Warner Bros. switched to the so-called "Burbank Palm Trees" label. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks is an etched picture of what appears to be an oval record with two radiating lines coming from its center hole to form the letter "A". This etching is commonly called "Circles and Sticks" by collectors and indicates that this record was mastered at Artisan Sound Recorders, Hollywood California. This is a hallmarl of state-of-the-art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound quality. I bought this New, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine and put it into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the release. There is no original inner sleeve with this listing. The cover is graded as VG because of shelf wear around the edges, stress cracks along the spine, a hint of ring wear and a 1" seam split at the top right hand corner and another in the middle of the bottom seam. The spine has some color loss from these stress cracks and rubs. The vinyl is visually graded as VG+ with some faint surface scratches and sleeve marks. I'm play-grading it as Excellent because there is only occasional low level surface noise, though most people would grade it Near Mint. This is the best copy of this rare album that I have seen or heard and you would be hard pressed to find an original pressing like this one, being that it is an original green label, Artisan edition. This has been played on state-of-the-art equipment since I bought it and still has a lot of life left to it. This would make a great addition to anyone's collection.
