Dr. John's Spin Factory is at it again! Here, perhaps, is the ultimate temptation for those whose ears love nothing more than the reality-defying, electric guitar work of Joe Satriani. But wait, are you someone who is a bit spoiled? Do you seek the best sound and top vinyl quality so often found with original pressings? If you check both of these boxes, then listen up! From 1989 on Relatively Records, here is an original pressing of Joe Satriani's "Flying In A Blue Dream." And it is indeed SEALED! Referred to as 'new old stock,' yours truly purchased this gem in 1989 at Boogie Records in Kalamazoo Michigan after having played it multiple times during my weekly radio show on WIDR-FM, Western Michigan University's 100 watt, alternative music, all volunteer, radio station. (I sure do miss those days--being among the first in town to sample so much new music.) I could go on at length about how awesome this album is. However, I am going to step aside and offer up the following published opinion. Here is the review of Joe's 'Blue Dream' from Allmusic.com. (And I couldn't possibly say any better than this...) "An hour-long disc filled with musical explorations and compositions that defy belief, Flying in a Blue Dream is unquestionably Joe Satriani at his absolute best. Breaking his all-instrumental tradition for the first time, he croons on six of the disc's 18 tracks, including the weird "Strange"; and the bluesy, hard-rocking "Big Bad Moon"; and the driving "Can't Slow Down." Satriani's voice isn't extraordinary, but it fits extremely well with the music he creates, especially on the acoustic-tinged, uplifting "I Believe." It's his playing that's the really impressive thing here, though; his unique tone and complex song structures are enhanced by his signature playing style and the incredible array of effects and tricks he wrestles out of his instrument. The disc closes with the high-flying, misty piece "Into the Light," leaving behind a feeling of real wonder. Soaring, powerful, and triumphant, this recording deserves a place in everyone's collection." There you have it. Want it? You know what to do...Dr. John
