John Coltrane          A Love Supreme        (UK) HMV   CSD 1605

This is an original 1965 UK stereo pressing of John Coltrane's timeless classic "A Love Supreme". Fantastic 4-part suite that stands as a benchmark to which all other post-bop tenor saxophone quartets may be measured. Composed (and performed) as an expression of Coltrane's spiritual beliefs. 

Dead wax has AS 77 A-1G  stamped on Side 1 and AS 77 B-1G stamped on Side 2. Stampers are 1 M and 1 A respectively making this an ORIGINAL 1965 UK (early) PRESSING.

Vinyl visual Grading:  VG+ with some sleeve removal marks and a fingerprint or two. Could use a good cleaning (which may elevate it a grade). Labels show VERY LITTLE play.

Vinyl play Grading:  VG+ with OUTSTANDING fidelity and a wee bit of noise on lead-ins and on quiet parts. This will surely improve with a proper cleaning. 

Cover visual Grading:  VG AT LEAST on this single-sleeve glossy delicate flipback UK outer with some corner softening. Hardly any wear front side. Some rubbing bottom flipback. Rear cover has minor discolouration and a small W in marker top flipback (right corner). Also a very small black stamp date near top flipback. Overall SHOWS VERY WELL.

Comes with original poly-lined HMV inner of the era (VG at least). LP itself is housed in Audiophile rice plastic inner which is then housed in a plain white paper inner.

NM:  Virtually unmarked / considered either RARELY PLAYED, AS NEW OPENED, or record could still be SEALED.

VG+:  NO scratches/scuffs. At most a few light surface blemishes which have VERY LITTLE or NO effect on fidelity. 

VG:  Used but CERTAINLY NOT abused, perhaps extremely light surface scratching/scuffing causing noise which DOES NOT significantly compromise the fidelity of the music

G:   There will be visible marking and noise evident but the record will still be listenable and enjoyable, depending on your ears.

I do not use the Mint grading since there really is no such thing as perfection. Also, I will NOT sell noisy vinyl (Fair/Poor gradings) UNLESS I feel that there is significant historical and/or collector interest in the item. 

ALL records will have been visually graded under BRIGHT light and play graded on a Thorens TD165 table with little used Shure cartridge (at about 1.5 grams) and JBL reference headphones with the Treble set HIGH. This play-grading system masks very little so rest assured that my descriptions will be ACCURATE.

All of my listings will have the particulars detailed (ie. any blemishes, detail concerning condition of vinyl, cover, etc.). All records will be shipped in new or top-condition recycled record mailers with well padded corners and extra stiffeners. Original inners will be included if available, and all vinyl/covers will be held within a poly outer (vinyl will be outside of cover).

I will not be held responsible for any items that are lost or damaged in transit, AND NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

    It costs me MORE THAN the $8 Continental listed fee to post an album, so everyone (in North America) gets a break on shipping.  Multiple items will be quoted upon request! These shipping/handling rates are still DEFINITELY LESS than my actual costs. Feel free to ask questions at any time. On occasion, I will be listing cds. All of the cds will have their particular condition detailed within the listing. Shipping for cds will be $3 within Canada/U.S. and $6 to U.K./Japan. I will, of course, offer shipping/handling cost breaks on multiple items BUT since I am shipping from Canada (where we live with NOTORIOUSLY high postal rates), you may not receive the price break that you are hoping for.  

AGAIN, being a reasonable person, I will be absorbing some of the costs of postage and ALL of the costs of shipping materials.
