John Lennon and Yoko Ono- Wedding Album. No box. Very rare album (missing box- no inserts) released at the time of John Lennon's marriage to his second wife, Yoko Ono released October 1969. This is one of first non-Beatle albums released on the Apple label. The Beatles were soon to formally break up. Many fans blamed John's marriage to Yoko Ono and his newfound interest in certain political causes, including his strong feelings of promoting the peace movement, for the Beatles break-up. In any event, this album did not sell particularly well as it was not music based. Needless to say, that is why this record remains one of the rarest and most sought after collectibles in the Beatles era. It was the last of three experimental albums by John and Yoko, the first two being Unfinished Music Vol. 1 and Unfinished Music Vol. 2. They were all three considered "experimental albums."
There is some surface wear on the back side of the album cover sleeve, but the front of the album sleeve is very clean with no visible wear. The album opens to a very sharp and iconic gate-fold photo of John and Yoko in bed surrounded by newsmen (no surface wear on the inside gate-fold). John and Yoko staged a bed-in for peace and invited all news organizations. The historical long bed-in event was reported daily around the world. The vinyl disc itself plays beautifully and is in excellent to near mint condition.
I am not a record dealer. All my listings are from my own personal collection. This album is a duplicate copy I purchased at a record convention in the 1980's. I have priced it very competitively as it has no outer box or inserts. It is still very rare and collectible.
