Country of manufacture: as was consistent with many releases with the EU in the eighties, this is a German pressing with the sleeve marked ‘Printed in Western Germany by TOPAC’.

Condition: this super rare record with unique signature is graded as follows:

Vinyl labels: minimum excellent plus (+) with minimal spindle marks

Vinyl: minimum excellent condition. Thin eighties vinyl but still with a deep shine, and very minor evidence of any handling. Very minor finger mark and markings from removal of the inner sleeve.

Playback: I have played this album the whole way through and it plays to a very high standard and a strong excellent condition, with minimal background noise, and only a handful of minor pops, no clicks and no jumps apparent on my Marantz TT-15 turntable.

Inner sleeve: plain polylined inner sleeve is a minimum excellent condition, with minor creasing and it’s clear that this record has hardly left the sleeve! Marked down due to moderate age yellowing.

Outer cover: single side-opening sleeve that minimal creasing and rubbing, and consistent with the record and is a strong excellent condition, with minor spine creasing, minimal dinks and lovely flat panels. The record has been stored in a soft plastic cover. Only point to raise is consistent with inner sleeve the cover has moderate age yellowing. Overall grading excellent condition.

***Well, this really is a ‘one off’ and a great example of John Martyn’s signature and will look stunning framed! ***

This record was one of three records signed in the Netherlands on 27th March 1986, on what was a European tour for the ‘Piece by Piece’ album, released in EU territories the month before in February'86, and the concert was in Nijmegen in the Netherlands. This is a really stunning, unfaded autograph on the inner right-hand panel, in black felt pen, where John has signed;

‘Hi John Martyn’, and connected his signature via a curved arrow back to his image in the top centre of the panel.

For any fan of this remarkable artist, this is a stunning find and deserved to be framed and presented! The signature also includes Alan Thompson from the touring band on bass and keyboards, and two unidentified signatures.

This is item is sold as part of a consignment of goods purchase via world-renowned ‘Omega Auctions’ in 2021, and is sold as a genuine signature. A copy of the invoice will be provided from the sale as provenance.
