A US first-pressing copy of this fabulous double-LP from 1969. This is a Terre Haute pressing on the Atco label.

This item is in wonderful condition. The sleeve, so often split, torn or subject to severe wear is in great shape for over 50 years old. It has minor edgewear, slight unavoidable grubbiness to the cream colour here and there and one of those American punch-outs to the sleeve which I believe indicated either deletion or a price reduction. The clip carries through to both of the inners.

Both original Atco inner sleeves are present and in perfect condition save for the aforementioned clip. No wrinkles, knifing or creasing. Remarkable shape for inner sleeves quite so old.

The two records are of course where it counts and these are not to be found wanting. Three of the four sides play perfectly and are glossy with a superb sheen. NO skips, jumps, scratches, sticks, ticks or other imperfections except for Side Three, of which more below.

Firstly, there is a visible scuff across the length of Side Two. Miraculously this has no audible impact at all on the sound.

There is a minor scratch on Side Three but this cannot be heard on playback until the last track of the side. More details follow.

I have performed careful listening on the 31/03/24 and am pleased to report that Side Two is free of all sonic defects, despite the superficial and visible scuff. For, example ‘Light My Fire’ is free of any crackle or static that normally plagues this track. Sides One and Four are equally without flaw. However, the minor scratch mentioned on Side Three CANNOT be heard on the first three tracks of this side but unfortunately it turns into a feelable scratch on track 4. This means that there *IS* a recurring tick for the first minute of ‘Looking Into The Eye of the World’.

This is the ONLY track across four sides that has any sort of defect.

I am selling this because I need to prune my collection of some 12 copies of this album ; having finally acquired a mint UK copy on Marmalade, it’s time to let some go, though I will be sorry to lose this magnificent example.

Those who know, know. A superb, classic, ultra-60s gem in excellent condition.

Play-tested on a Linn LP12 with Hana MC and on a Rega Eco with MM cartridge. Records will be cleaned in an ultra-sonic machine prior to dispatch but are already in magnificent playback condition.
