This is a rare UK 1st press of 'In The Court Of The Crimson King' by King Crimson. This genuine 1st press is complete with the rare A2//B2 matrix, the earliest textured pink i label and the earliest lightweight bright EJ Day gatefold sleeve. This is the rare earliest EJ Day sleeve, it is not the lighter pink Robor Ltd later press.
The record is in Very Good+ condition. The vinyl is still jet black, with a sensational bright gloss. It has only been lightly played. There is no sign of whitening or heavy play to the grooves, there are just a couple of light marks on both sides, but certainly nothing heavy and nothing that significantly affects the sound quality.
The earliest textured label is in Excellent condition. It is exceptionally bright and completely clean. The white is superb, the text is sharp and the pink is vivid. There is the slightest spindle wear.
When played the sound is superb - sharp, vibrant and complete with the original bold audio separation. There is very slight hiss in the quieter moments but nothing that spoils the enjoyment of this rare 1st press at any point. The sound is rich and clear from start to finish.
The EJ Day gatefold bright sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. This earliest sleeve is delicate and is easily worn, but this is a solid example. It is completely clean with the original vivid colours and sharp lines. The inside is in sensational condition, the white lyrics are clear and the image is unworn. There is just light edge and corner wear. The rear of the sleeve has slight ring wear but is still extremely bright. The spine is firm and the whole sleeve is still very solid.
