Description

KING CRIMSON - IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING (AN OBSERVATION BY KING CRIMSON)

1969 UK prog classic with the excellent STEREO audio quality being a true highlight

Year/Label : 1969 UK Pink ISLAND
Label number : STEREO ILPS 9111
Matrix numbers : ILPS 9111 A 2,  ILPS 9111 B//3
Stampers :  1 2 22  /  1 1 611 4
Very good plus (VG+) condition vinyl - in normal daylight each side of the vinyl gleams and comes across as in near perfect condition, and it is only with closer inspection under a bright light that a few wispy hairlines (there are x3 on A1 ranging from 1cm to 2.5cm) and very, very light scuff marks come into view on each side. Thankfully each is non-feelable, appears to be surface only, and do not impact upon the wonderful audio quality. Each label is excellent with the only blemishes being some small and very faint spindle lines adjacent to the centre hole on each and the iconic large white "i" and black text upon the pink background remain in excellent order.  A very good (VG) condition original non-laminated E.J. Day UK outer gatefold sleeve. Each edge remains firm but the bottom front-side edge, top reverse-side edge and spine all suffer from continuous mild scuffing, and the remaining edges have intermittent scuffing. There is a little "scrunching" on the bottom right side corner though the corners themselves remain nicely defined right angles but with rubbing on each. The spine text has been almost completely eroded by scuffing. The good news is that all colours, art work, and interior text of this iconic gatefold remain very nicely intact, the opening edges remain firm with no fraying, and there is no unwanted writing although the original lightly hand written price of "37/6"remains in the top left corner on the reverse side...that means 37 shillings and sixpence, by the way, which today equates to £1.75!!   Excellent (EX) STEREO audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, nasty clicks, interference or distortion and background crackle is virtually non-existent. Even Moonchild plays through beautifully apart from just 4 very, very light clicks towards the end of this same track (for which I can find no obvious cause). You may come across the odd very, very light click elsewhere but there is no question that the overall sound quality is excellent with great tone and brilliant clarity throughout. Hard to believe that this is a 54 year old LP - the tracks are timeless and for me "21st Schizoid" and "The Court Of The Crimson King" still set the prog standard. Comes with original and very good condition poly-lined "PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS" inner sleeve with no seam splits, a little corner creasing, and some mild age discolouration towards the edges.
The ultimate prog classic, with this UK 1st press copy remaining very presentable and eminently listenable!
POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £4 using Royal Mail tracked 48;

for continental Europe £13 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,

and for the rest of the world £19 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.

A bit about myself : I have been collecting UK vinyl for over 54 years from a variety of sources : my own collection, friends and family, car boot and garage sales, door-to-door leaflets, and even through placing an advert in my wife's shop window! My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I will sort out the problem. I offer a "no questions asked" refund policy. If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige. There is NO RESERVE on this item. Richard
