KING CRIMSON - IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING
Timeless prog, with the impressive stereo sound quality being a true highlight of this copy.
Year/Label : 1969 UK ISLAND (white "i", pink background) Label number : ILPS 9111 Matrix numbers : ILPS 9193 A - 2, ILPS 9193 B//3 Stampers : 1 2 10 / 11Solid very good plus (VG+) condition vinyl - completely flat and retaining a beautiful jet black lacquered sheen. In daylight the condition of the vinyl comes across as virtually unmarked and it is only with close inspection under a bright light that a few paper scuffs and wispiest of wispy hairlines come into view on both sides (all non-feelable and purely superficial), and a slightly more obvious 1.5cm light scuff line at the very beginning of side 2 and a small area of four very light 1cm scuff lines two thirds through Moonchild (not obvious, and non-feelable - see photos) resulting in some very light rotational background crackle accompanied by some very low level and background rotational clicking for a few minutes during this same track - certainly not significantly impacting upon the overall brilliant listen. Each label is excellent with the only blemish being a few small and very faint rogue spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label. A very good (VG) original and iconic non-laminated E.J. Day outer gatefold sleeve. Each edge remains firm, including the spine with the spine text largely intact and certainly legible - just a few partially obscured letters caused by the occasional tiny spine nick. There is mild but significant top and bottom edge scuffing (continuous along the entirety of the bottom back edge) with mild rubbing on each of the four corners and just a very little compression on the top right corner, and some very light intermittent vertical abrasions adjacent to the spine on both the front and reverse sides The wonderful and iconic art work, text, and colours remain largely intact notwithstanding the aforementioned blemishes, and the inside of the gatefold borders on excellent with no unwanted writing and all text perfectly intact.This gatefold remains fully functional and highly presentable despite the aforementioned blemishes but do take a good look at my photos to satisfy yourself that this is indeed the case. Overall excellent (EX) (or even better) stereo sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats, or distortion and any background crackle is very background and largely limited to "Moonchild" as described above. Apart from the aforementioned very light clicking during parts of Moonchild you might come across a very random and very occasional light click but each is non-intrusive and does not spoil what is undoubtedly a great listen. Side 1 stereo sound quality is truly excellent, side 2 not quite on Moonchild but certainly excellent on the magnificent final track. And I have to say that the sound quality on these very early A2/B3 matrix vinyl pressings really does take some beating - great tone and crystal clear STEREO audio reproduction with every track a great listen - timeless prog! Comes with original plain white poly-lined "PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS" outer sleeve, correctly dated with no side splits or edge fraying, very little age discolouration, and just a little minor creasing in two of the corners. Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.
Timeless prog on a 1969 UK 1st press Crimso classic where the impressive stereo sound quality is a true highlight. Is this LP really 56 years of age?!

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
