L' originale prima rara stampa inglese, copertina apribile textured fronte e retro (assai delicata, ha in questa copia segni di invecchiamento molto lievi, piccole scritte sull'etichetta), liscia all' interno, interno copertina con cover printer "E.J.Day Group London and Bedford", logo copertina (sempre all' interno) con grande lettera '' I '' con indirizzo ''Island Records ltd basing street London w11'', etichetta liscia pink "i" del primo tipo, nella versione con anno pubblicazione a sinistra e con facciate a destra indicate come "SIDE ONE" e "SIDE TWO", rosa con ''i'' bianca in basso, trail off matrix "ILPS 9127 A//1" e "ILPS 9127 B//1".  Pubblicato in Inghilterra nel maggio del 1970 dopo ''In the court of the crimson king'' e prima di ''Lizard'', giunto al numero 4 delle classifiche inglesi ed al numero 31 di quelle Usa dove usci' nel settembre dello stesso anno. Il secondo album. Registrato da Robert Fripp con Greg Lake, Mike e Peter Giles, Keith Tippet, Mel Collins, Gordon Haskell, Peter Sinfield, e' un concept album ancor piu' complesso ed arrangiato del primo lavoro.  Con un organico ampliato, Fripp getta qui le basi del sound che rendera' il "Re Cremisi" tra le piu' amate e considerate ensamble di tutto il progressive mondiale.  Composto quando il gruppo aveva perso due dei membri originari, Ian McDonald e Michael Giles, con Greg Lake sul piede di partenza, e' un lavoro composto principalmente da Robert Fripp, vi si trovano diverse revisitazioni di brani gia' suonati live negli anni passati, quali ''Pictures of a city" e ''The devil's triangle'' (quest' ultima una rivisitazione non accreditata di ''Mars bringer of wars'', brano tratto da ''The planets'' di Gustav Holst, che fu piu' volte suonato live nel 1969 con il titolo di ''Mars''). Prodotto e suonato molto meglio e assai piu' accuratamente del primo lp, nonostante l' abbandono del tastierista McDonald, con il suono trainante dell' album che non e' la chitarra ma il mellotron, suonato ora da Fripp stesso.  Il disco trova il suo momento massimo in ''Cadence and cascade'', uno dei capolavori assoluti del gruppo.  Un album classico e fondamentale nell' evoluzione del progressive inglese, diverso e meno omogeneo del primo lp, ma il primo lavoro in cui Robert Fripp sostanzialmente rivendica il gruppo come sua esclusiva . The second album. Recorded by Robert Fripp and Greg Lake, Mike and Peter Giles, Keith Tippet, Mel Collins, Gordon Haskell, Peter Sinfield, and 'a concept album even more' complex and arranged their first job.  With a workforce expanded, Fripp throws here the basics of sound that will make 'the "King Crimson" among the most' popular and considered ensemble of the whole progressive world.    Composed when the group had lost two of the original members, Ian McDonald and Michael Giles, Greg Lake on the brink of departure, and 'a work composed primarily of Robert Fripp, there are several revisitazioni songs already' played live in years past, such as' 'Pictures of a city "and' 'The devil's triangle' '(latter' a remake not accredited '' Mars bringer of wars', 'excerpt from' 'The planets'' Gustav Holst, who was more 'times played live in 1969 with the title of' 'Mars''). Produced and played much better and far more 'carefully first lp, despite the' abandonment of keyboardist McDonald, with the driving sound of 'album that is not' the guitar but the mellotron, played now by Fripp himself.  The disc finds its maximum in '' Cadence and Cascade ',' one of the masterpieces of the group.    A classic and essential album in the 'evolution of the English progressive, different and less coherent than the first lp, but the first work in which Robert Fripp essentially claims the group as its exclusive.
