KING CRIMSON - IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING
1st UK pressing on the solid PINK Island Label ILPS 9111
Stamper-Matrixes: A2 and B3
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some general remarks: This landmark album belongs into each serious collection. There are 2 label varieties of the Pink Island issues. The copy with the rough textured labels have the stamper matrixes A2 and B2, the very first being made by Island shortly before Island gave the pressing job to Polydor. The majority of the Pink Island issues have the stamper matrixes A2 and B4 which is still considered as an early pressing. The copy on auction has the much rarer matrixes A2 and B3. What makes this one very special is its condition. The record looks and plays as it just came freshly from the pressing plant. Seriously!!! It is in unbelievable condition.
I grade my records on top notch equipment, using the expensive Lyra Kleos MC-cartridge. It reveals everything from any Vinyl which sometimes can be a curse, especially with 40+ year old records. When I grade a record as Excellent, I am pretty sure many other sellers would not hestitate to call it Near Mint. When I give a record the "Near Mint" grading it is practically flawless. I am collecting Vinyl since 35+ years and own hundreds of records from the day they came into the shops.
The Vinyl: NEAR MINT
No marks, haitlines, scuffs or other blemishes. This one is practically like new. When I played the entire album I counted a total of exactly 2 mild clicks. Even brand new records have more! It has the cleanest Moonchild ever and we all know that this is nearly impossible to achieve. The Vinyl sits flat on the turntable.
The Labels: NEAR MINT
The Gatefold-Sleeve: EXCELLENT
Extremely well preserved with only very mild edge rubbing. No splits or creases.
Original Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT-
One very small tear (see picture). No seam-splits. Very mild yellowing from age around the edges.
If you ever intended to own a FIRST PRESSING of this gem in flawless condition: don't let this one pass by.
In case of any further questions please don't hesitate to mail me. I will answer promptly.
Due to the somehow weird eBay policies regarding postage please ignore the postage fee listed above. I decided to fix shipping at 7 GBP to anywhere in Europe and 9 GBP to the rest of the world. This includes the fees for "signed for/registered" and also Insurance to make sure the record arrives safely. It also allows to track it during its transit. The record ships from Germany.
Payment is required within 3 working days after auction ended.
I pack my records professionally in stiff record mailers leaving the Vinyl (housed in Nagaoka anti-static bags) outside the Sleeve.
Good luck.
