Description

What's on offer?: Almost without the need for introduction, here we have a SIMPLY FANTASTIC and hugely in demand 60s Beat Monster - especially as an ORIGINAL UK PRESSING and in MINT UNPLAYED condition!!

Artist: LEAPY LEE (with The Kinks!!)

A-side: “KING OF THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD”

B-side: “SHAKE HANDS”

Label: DECCA F 12369 (UK Original)

When did you last see one of these offered for sale and, importantly, when are you likely to see one again???!!!

Leapy Lee's career began as a comedian (his real name is Lee Graham), although he is best remembered for "Little Arrows" which has since been reissued on three occasions. He was very friendly with The Kinks and his humour seems to have played a major role in soothing internal pressures in the group. He was almost offered the opportunity to record "Sunny Afternoon" before Ray Davies changed his mind and decided The Kinks should record it. Eventually Ray Davies wrote, arranged and produced "King Of The Whole Wide World" and got two of the Kinks - his brother Dave Davies (lead guitar) and Pete Quaife (bass guitar) - to play on it. The song could easily have been a hit but it wasn't.

This is one of the TRUE HOLY GRAIL items for collectors of KINKS-related items around the World and is on so many Wants Lists it's simply incredible!  Many collectors have simply given up all hope of ever owning a genuine UK 1st pressing of this monster, so I fully expect LARGE bids!!!  However, the “Buy It Now” facility is there for the careful consideration of those serious collectors who want to get their hands on this gem NOW!!!

Forget all the cheap bootleg repros that are doing the rounds, as you'll see from the photo this is guaranteed to be the ORIGINAL 1966 UK 1st Pressing on the Decca label. Any fan of Leapy Lee, The Kinks, 60s Beat or 60s music in general will simply have to have this in their collection!!!!

Grade (labels): The record labels are in STUNNING condition with NO writing, NO wear and NO spindle marks.  An extremely feint library stamp on both sides provides the buyer with an outstanding provenance!!!

Grade (vinyl): Most of these singles had been played on a heavy stylus and so are usually found totally worn out, almost unplayable. THIS RECORD, HOWEVER, STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL 'JUST PRESSED' LOOK and is believed to be UNPLAYED, so strictly graded at MINT!!!!

Believe me this record is NOT overgraded in ANY way!!!! I use STRICT Record Collector grading standards - it's simply not in my interest to do otherwise!!!! Brilliant!!!!

Why buy?:  THIS IS SUCH A BRILLIANT AND PAINFULLY RARE SINGLE.  IT’S VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND A GENUINE COPY IN ANY CONDITION, LET ALONE PERFECT MINT UNPLAYED!!!! SO, DON'T MISS OUT!!!! THIS WILL SURELY BE YOUR ONLY CHANCE TO BUY AN ORIGINAL 1966 DECCA UK 1ST PRESSING OF "KING OF THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD" BY LEAPY LEE (WITH THE KINKS) IN STUNNING MINT UNPLAYED CONDITION!!!! Use the 'Buy It Now' facility (if it's still available) before somebody else beats you to it!!!
