I was fortunate enough to recently receive hundreds of unsold KISS albums in boxes that had sat in Polygram Records' warehouse and i will be listing them a few at a time. most of these LPs are beautiful...some are error copies. some are in amazing shape, and some are in good shape. i will indicate the condition of each LP. one of the great things about these LPs is that a lot of them never made it into the stores, so theres no price tags or shelf wear. when it comes to American KISS releases and pressings, i am an expert so feel free to ask anything. bidders with less than 20 feedback please contact me first, otherwise your bids will be cancelled because of previous bad experiences.
KISS "Peter Criss" solo album NBLP 7122 sealed STONE Mint poster, order form, credit sheet and picture sleeve inserts. it has come to my attention that although it is believed that sealed copies of the solo albums are quite abundant; sealed copies with no cut corners have become extremely rare. when the solo albums were released fall 1978, an effort was made to keep the members of KISS in the dark about whose album was selling the most and least amount. in order to keep the non-competitive peace between band members, Casablanca shipped 1.5 million copies of each solo album and backed it with a very expensive marketing campaign. each member of KISS was immediately awarded a gold and platinum plaque to commemorate over 1 million units sold of each solo project. unfortunately, the whole plan backfired when record stores began shipping back unsold stock to Casablanca in droves. all 4 albums failed miserably, and by 1980 it was almost impossible to get consumers to by all 4 LPs for $8.00 after their corners had been cut and sold to bargain bin distributors. Peter's album suffered the most, with only around 380,000 units actually sold at list price. With the success of only one hit single from Ace, his album came the closest to selling a million (around 790,000)...needless to say, hundreds of thousands of clipped solo albums are STILL being sold to collectors and the average price for a sealed copy is $25 (peter and paul) to $50 (ace and gene)...however, finding a sealed retail copy of any of the solo albums without a cut corner is becoming increasingly difficult, and the rarest of them all is Peter Criss. this copy is PERFECT. this is much rarer than you may think!
