Description
This is the original Period release of the Kodaly Unaccompanied Cello Sonata performed by Janos Starker--SPL 510. This recording remains Starker at HIS BEST. It was released shortly after the introduction of the LP in the late '40/early /50s. This disc was manufactured by RCA in the mid-1950s. This sonata is arguably THE cult cello piece and this release, the rarest of all the recordings. After the Bach Suites this is easily my favorite. The record is visually EXC/NM--glossy black and shiny with some hairlines. Spot-playing--before cleaning--shows some SLIGHT surface noise. The jacket is EXC with some edge rubbing. The inner sleeeve is a period polybag--thought at the time to give greater protection. This is a RARE and WONDERFUL record!
