Imagine you are living in a Communist country that had not only fought on the "wrong" side of both World Wars, but also lost two thirds of its territory and some ten million people dropping out of its new boundaries (after the First World War), had one million dead and had its capital eventually destroyed (during the Second World War). Even more, it has just recently lost its own national revolution against Soviet Communist rule in 1956.
Well, you are in 60s-70s Hungary, in some sense sitting in the very middle of Europe, in another sense just behind the Iron Curtain. You want to do rock music. What will be the result? Listen and find out!
"Kívánj Szép Álmokat" (Wish Me Nice Dreams) is a soundtrack album of the "Szép Lányok, Ne Sírjatok" (Don’t Cry, Pretty Girls) movie. Premiered in 1970, the music of the movie featured many of the beat/psych groups popular in early 70s Hungary. This LP release is the first album to present this soundtrack, collecting most of the film’s tracks from Illés, Metro, Syrius, Kex, Tolcsvay and female singer Zalatnay Sarolta. The LP includes two previously unreleased tracks from Tolcsvay!
