I would be prepared to wager that if you're looking at this, you already know who Keith Tippett is, but if not, then he is a jazz keyboard virtuoso, often playing in an improvisational style, possibly best known for his work with early King Crimson, and Centipede, the jazz big-band that produced the double album suite Septober Energy. This auction is for the double LP from 1978, titled Frames, Music for an Imaginary Film. While it is not on such a large scale as Centipede, Frames is arguably very similar to Septober Energy in concept, being the product of Ark, a large ensemble of 22 musicians, including Stan Tracey, and produced by Hugh Hopper. It's on the Ogun label, cat OGD 003 & 004. The matrix nos are A2 & B2. The sleeve notes seem to imply that there are 3 pieces of music, none of which are titled.

I'm selling off a load of stuff from my collection that I've came to realise that I just don't play anymore. So if this is the kind of thing that rocks your world, why not add me to your Favourite Sellers and you might find a couple of bargains.

I'm pleased to report that both visually and audibly both discs and their labels are as close to as good as new asI feel it is possible for second-hand vinyl to be. I can find no marks, crackling, pops, clicks, warpage or spindle marks. Indeed, if I were bringing this home from a record shop today I would not be disappointed. The quality of audio emanating from these discs is also superb, with really crisp definition of the individual players & vocals. (Mr Hopper did sterling work here.)

The thin-card gatefold sleeve is laminated on the outside faces and unlaminated within. The outside faces are excellent. The inside faces have suffered very slightly due, I think, to the way the sleeve has been manufactured. The lamination from the outside faces is sealed by folding narrow seams over the top and bottom of the inside, and this makes the inner faces look as if they are discoloured at top and bottom. (I think you can see what I mean from the picture). There is virtually no edge or spine wear, but the bottom corner at the spine is slightly burred.
