King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King
(Island ILPS 9111 UK LP 1969)
This is an early 1970's UK LP pressing. It has a heavyweight matt gatefold sleeve & comes with its original polythene lined pale blue company "Island" inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has "pink rim" Island labels. The record has 1st press A-4U/ B-4U matrix stampers. Interestingly the labels are on the wrong sides. For example, Side 1 has Side 2's label & vice versa.
Gatefold Sleeve: There is some mild to more moderate rubbing wear to the bottom edge & corner tips. There is some light, mild or very rubbing wear to the top edge. There is some light rubbing wear to the spine on a few areas. There is some light rippling at the rear sleeve opening area. There is a light stain on the rear sleeve. There is a very small cross on the rear sleeve too - at the top spine area. VG condition
Vinyl: There are some light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. There are two light 1 cm hairline marks. VG+ condition. The labels are in near excellent condition & show mild or very mild spindle wear. The company inner sleeve is in VG+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have fully play tested this LP. Side 1 plays Good+ to VG overall. It plays VG+ to Near Excellent overall. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in the quieter places. There is some more moderate crackle on some areas on a couple of tracks. Side 2 plays VG overall & VG+ in some places.
This LP would definitely benefit from a professional clean. Visually the disc looks quite clean. However, when you view the disc under a strong light, & with a magnifying glass, you can see minuscule specks of dirt in the grooves. A professional clean would remove these specks of dirt in the grooves. It would, I believe, play excellently afterwards.
