IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING... (An observation by King Crimson)
This is the 1969 debut album by the British progressive rock group King Crimson, and is a vinyl LP that is very rare and difficult to find in good playable condition. The album reached #3 on the British charts, and certified gold in the United States.
It is generally viewed as one of the strongest of the progressive rock genre, where blues-oriented rock was mixed together with jazz and European symphonic elements. In his 1997 book rocking the classics, critic/musicologist Edward Maca
This rare LP is the ORIGINAL 1969 UK STEREO 1st Pressing on the 1st pressing of a pink Island records label. The record is pressed on a slab of THICK black quality vinyl.
The Cat no. is ILPS -9111 on the 1st press PINK ISLAND label. The white ISLAND logo below the central holes on both labels to confirm that this is the very first issue of this LP.
Condition:
- There is one light scratch on side 2 but does not affect the playability of the LP
- The gatefold sleeve is a first issue with a matt finish, and manufactured by EJ Day, and is showing only mild signs of storage wear, with some wear at the corners. The sleeve has NO ring wear, NO rips, NO tears and absolutely NO graffiti.
- The sleeve is in very good condition and is a collector’s item. The spine is perfectly straight but mildly scuffed; therefore the text is only partly legible.

General Notes:
The album was re-mastered and re-released on vinyl and CD several times during the 1980s and 1990s. The original stereo master tapes were finally located in a Virgin Records storage vault in 2003, leading to a much improved re-mastered CD version released in 2004.
Album cover
Barry Godber (1946–1970), an artist and computer programmer, painted the album cover. Godber died in February 1970 of a heart attack, shortly after the album's release. It would be his only painting, and is now owned by Robert Fripp.
The face on the outside is the Schizoid Man, and on the inside it's the Crimson King. If you cover the smiling face, the eyes reveal an incredible sadness. What can one add? It reflects the music
