Description

An original 1st press of ITCOTCK on the UK Island label from 1969. Matrix 3/3. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original E J Day cover. Also included is the original plastic bag warning inner sleeve date coded to "099" which translates as Sep-69...A month before first release in the UK. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In super condition and has only seen light use. And, with this title particularly, only a really well preserved copy has half a chance of delivering that clean unhindered audio we're all seeking out. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of slight deviations. It only drops below this standard marginally in one or two of the very low-key sections. By and large a very clean and assured rendition of this 60's classic. Anyone familiar with this release will be aware that the early copies are the defacto route to "best audio". Bold and warm the audio from these copies manages to convey the range and dynamics that Crimson were so adept at. 'Moonchild' plays back pretty clean.... not perfect, but it's about as clean as is typically possible to find with just a couple of ticks in a couple of spots and then a few static crackles toward the end of the track during the 'noodling' - nothing obtrusive just low-level. The only other issues we detected were a couple of clicks at the start of 'Talk To The Wind'...and then a bit of static in the intro to "Puppets". The only copies that exist beyond a copy like this are true minters - that were archived and barely even played...and lets face it they're not going to come onto the market very often and are likely to reach astronomical prices. Please note one of the labels has been signed.
Cover (Ex) In well above average condition this a very nice clean looking specimen. Lovely clean front with nothing overtly troublesome at all - a tiny nick just above the left eye-brow...that's pretty much it. Ditto the rear..very nice condition with only super-light handling evident. The interior looks great with no issues at all..no hidden signatures or anything. Edge wear is fairly light for this title. The spine often takes a battering, but this example is in fine condition with most text legible and only a modicum of wear. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and remains an impressive example.
Inner (Ex) Lightest ageing. No writing or markings. No splits!!
