An early and interesting 1969 1st press of ITCOTCK - in its own right. BUT... to take it up to the next level...it's been signed by Robert Fripp no more no less.<<<<
To be honest... I don't usually touch autographed items with a bargepole as I tend to find this field a bit opaque and open to all sorts of nonsense. But this copy caught my eye because it comes with some level of authentication and supporting evidence and a straight forward backstory which is dateable and makes sense.
First things first the LP.... It's got the '1841 Broadway' address that you'd expect on the 1st issue. Matrix A1/B1 - 1st cut. It also comes housed in an original 1969 Atlantic inner sleeve [correct for the release date]. The cover is textured as you'd find on the 1st issue with the '1841 Broadway' address on the interior. So, all looks genuine and complete for a 1st issue autumn 1969 copy.
What appears to have happened is... someone's taken this original '69 copy along to a Robert Fripp demonstration on 'Frippertonics' in 1992 at the World Financial Centre. 200 Liberty Street, Battery Park, Manhattan, NY [bang opposite the 911 site]. In 1992/3 Robert Fripp and Trey Gunn [later of KC] joined forces with the 'California Guitar Trio' and toured as the 'The Robert Fripp String Quartet'. The LP was signed during this period "20/5/92". Robert signed the LP down in the bottom right corner in gold pen, dated it top right, and also signed the demonstration flyer. The flyer details the date of the demo "20/5/92", who was present, small bio on Robert inside, detail on the Guitar Trio, and then other demonstrations [on the rear] in this Guitar Innovation Series. Note that the flyer is signed by Robert, along with Trey Gunn and the three members of the Guitar Trio. You will note the paper is porous and the signatures show through to the inside pages. All signatures in black marker except for Robert's in gold pen. There's also a speech bubble drawn in gold pen on the cover. Difficult to make out what the comment says in the bubble "Hi, XXXX" - but this appears to be a stock doodle he used when autographing.

Moving on to the actual LP And Cover...
Cover (Ex) In beautiful condition and I doubt many will have survived the passage of time to surface looking this well preserved. Lovely clean and unaged surfaces without wear or creasing. I'll not re-mention any of the writing or doodles as they are detailed above. The interior is absolutely pristine. Edge wear is very limited for a title of this vintage. The opening edges are unworn and still sharp. The spine is in far far better condition than you'd usually. All text more or less all legible with just a modicum of wear along the extreme edges. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity in part thanks to the heavy-card employed in manufacture.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) Has seen relatively light careful use. There are a few light scuffing marks in the odd place - but none of this is feelable it's very superficial stuff by and large. One tiny mark right at the end of side 1 does cause about five isolated clicks. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. It's a pretty decent player - not clean enough to hit the top grades though. For large parts it plays clean with relatively little in the background. The two issues I will mention are... the five clicks right toward the end of Epitaph. And then in 'Moonchild' - the super low-key paired down number at the start of side 2 - expect some static in places. Nothing that noticeable or upfront at all. This track is notorious for being almost impossible to find with a quiet background. It plays very nice - just not as clean as the rest of the LP. Overall a very fine rendition and there's little to find fault with.
Inner (Vg) A bit aged with a two inch bottom edge split. But it is the genuine 1969 article. WILL ship in a MOFI inner sleeve for maximum protection.
