Limited Edition (5) LP box set from Tangerine Dream titled "...In The Beginning" released by Relativity (EMC 8066) in 1985. No. 2060 sticker on backside of box. Repackage of Tangerine Dream's first four albums plus the previously unreleased LP Green Desert. Their first album Electronic Meditation and the Green Desert are on the Relativity label and in paper sleeves with black & white graphics. Their second album Alpha Cetauri and their fourth Atem are on the Virgin Records label and packaged together in a cardboard gatefold jacket. Their third album Zeit, a double LP is on the Virgin Records label and comes in a cardboard gatefold jacket. Their early albums were quite different than the Tangerine Dream most are familiar with. Much more experimental, primitive but nonetheless amazing. The line up for Electronic Meditation was Edgar Froese, Klaus Schulze and Conrad Schnitzler with a primal sound closer to rock than anything they ever recorded later but completely unconventional. No synthesizers...just guitars, organ, tape effects, drums, cello and typewriters. Amazing heavy drums from Klaus Schulze! Alpha Centauri is the first with a synthesizer but a primitive EMS VCS 3 and Atem is heavily electronic. Both efforts are spacey, experimental music without much hint of structure...challenging but rewarding. The double album Zeit has four sides of dark, atmospheric evolving drone music with guest musician Florian Fricke (RIP) on Moog. Green Desert was recorded by Edgar Froese and Chris Franke only in 1973 and points to the cosmic synth direction Tangerine Dream was headed for with more conventional music structure and the use sequencers. Re-mixed in 1985 for this package. Includes a 12-page booklet with liner notes and discography.

All labels are in EXCELLENT/NEAR MINT condition.
Electronic Meditation vinyl is in VG+/VG++ condition with a few surface marks at beginning of Side A. Nice vinyl luster and plays with some surface noise mostly at beginning of sides and more occasional as record plays on. Never overbearing...sounds great! Paper sleeve is in VG+ condition with some discoloration.
Alpha Centauri vinyl is in VG++ condition with nice glossy shine, some sleeve stains and plays with some background surface noises that are not distracting...sounds great!
Atem vinyl is in VG++ condition with glossy shine, some sleeve fogging and plays with some background surface noises that do not distract...sounds great! Gatefold cover is in VG++ condition with light edgewear, a very light crease and there is a small scrape at center of bottom edge of front panel.
Both Zeit vinyls are in VG++ condition with glossy shine, a few very light hairline sleeve marks and some sleeve stains. Both play with some light, sporadic vinyl tics...sound great! Gatefold cover is in EXCELLENT condition with very light shelfwear.
Green Desert vinyl is in VG++ condition with a few light hairline paper marks and some sleeve spots. Nice vinyl luster and plays with soem light background surface noises that are non-distracting...sounds great! Paper sleeve is in VG+ condition with some edgewear.
12-page booklet is in EXCELLENT condition.
Outer box is in VG+ condition with wear at corners, edgewear, some surface wear and has a pressure crease at top right of front.
