Description
ONE OF THE EPOCHAL jazz records of the 1930s, here is "LADY BE GOOD" and "SHOE SHINE BOY" by the mysteriously named JONES-SMITH INCORPORATED - a quintet out of COUNT BASIE'S orchestra. This was the famous Basie rhythm section plus CARL SMITH, trumpet, and, making his recorded debut, LESTER YOUNG on tenor sax, who, in a blistering two choruses on "Lady," makes the most of the occasion.
A landmark recording, and a must-have for any jazz collector. On a rare label, to boot!
This original 1936 Conqueror 9317 is in solid E condition; a few negligible scuffs.
These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care.
