BIOGRAPHY

Original Atlantic recording (made July-August at various locations), pressed/manufactured & distributed under license in the UK by Polydor Records Limited and utilizing the Polydor catalog# series for the UK.

This recording has "Whole Lotta Love" (A1), "The Lemon Song" (A3) & "Bring It On Home" (B5) credited to band members. These four elements had credit changes effected on later issues, together with a retitling of tracks A3 & B2.

No track timings are given.

Gatefold unlaminated cover (light brown). Inside cover track list has 'Maid' replacing 'Wreck' for title of B2 on label. Note also the phrase "She's A Woman" later becomes "She's Just A Woman" on subsequent releases.

VINYL (VISUAL)

Thickly pressed quality vinyl with jet black surfaces. The record looks fantastic with only the faintest wispy lines, it looks superb, it is 42 years old 

GRADED; EXCELLENT

VINYL (PLAY GRADED) PLEASE READ

(I have listened to this record carefully through headphones and will grade as I have heard it, I don’t want you to be disappointed)

The record lays perfectly flat, the only blemish which you cannot see is it seems to have a slight warp in the actual grooves.

SIDE ONE; There is one small skip at the beginning of Whole Lotta Love, nothing else to report apart from minimal static in quiet moments. NO other skips and NO clicks.

SIDE TWO; Apart from minimal static it plays well with NO skips or nasty clicks.

 Overall it is a good listen and although it is not a mint copy it is a very presentable and listenable copy for any collection. There is some distortion heard on both sides when played loud. There is some static/crackle in quiet moments, but this could be down to the record needing a professional clean. It has one skip at the beginning of Whole Lotta Love and the rest is fine.

SLEEVE

First issue light brown E J. Day Gatefold sleeve is in very good condition for this particular sleeve, as it is notorious for wear and tear as it isn’t laminated, considering its age this has stood up very well for a record of 42 years old. Only minor storage wear and ring wear, the sleeve has NO rips, NO tears and absolutely NO graffiti or stickers whatsoever, The spine is 100% readable (see photos) The inside is fantastic and shows very little wear.

POLY-LINED INNER SLEEVE

This is the original poly lined sleeve which has stood up well,

It is in very good condition, it is a bit creased see photos, it has plastic bags can be dangerous in blue with the all important

LABELS

Labels are the sensational red / plum ATLANTIC format in as near as mint condition as you could get, with the ATLANTIC logos to the left of the central holes on both sides of the labels to confirm that this is the very first issue of this magnificent rarity. Has the original first pressing "produced by Jimmy Page” Both labels have only 1 or 2  very light spindle lines. NO graffiti, NO rips, NO tears or stickers.

   GRADED; EXCELLENT+

MINT:
The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks
or deterioration in sound quality.
The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.
Records advertised as sealed or un-played should be mint.

EXCELLENT:
The record shows some signs of having been played,
but there is very little lessening in sound quality.
The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD:
The record has obviously been played many times,
but displays no major deterioration in sound quality,
despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.
Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items,
without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD:
The record has been played so much
that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated,
perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.
The cover and contents suffer from folding,
scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR:
The record is still just playable but it has not been cared for properly 
and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
