RL LED ZEPPELIN II Hot Mix 1969 1st Pressing ATLANTIC SD 8236 with Atlantic inner sleeve.
True 1st pressing with 1841 Broadway address on the labels and early hot mix by Robert Ludwig as indicated by "RL" on both sides of the wax.
Specialty Records Corporation Pressing Plant information as indicated by the "SP" on the labels. SRC was located in Olyphant Pennsylvania..
Much sought after hot mix that was quickly withdrawn and a new mix made for subsequent edition. These are fairly easy to come across, but almost impossible to find in clean condition!! This copy is pretty beat up but is still an enjoyable listen thanks to the upfront and loud sound and the way it was recorded and produced.
Record played all the way through to determine condition. Played on a Technics turntable with a Nagaoka cartridge with 1.8 grams of pressure on the stylus.

VINYL in G+ condition overall, the sound varies from G to VG in areas. The surface is coverd in light hairlines and scuffs. 
The beginning of each side is cleaner than the end of each. On Side 1, "Whole Lotta Love" and "What Is And What Should Never Be" is in strong G+ condition with background crackle. The rest of side 1 is rated G condition with more pronounced crackle and pops.
Side 2 "Heartbreaker" and "Living Loving Maid" is in strong G+ condition, the rest of the side is G condition. Once the music is rocking it is more like a G+, but quieter segments like the end of "Thanks You", and the solo to "Moby Dick" are more pronounced background noise.
COVER in VG+ condition. Staining noticeable on back cover brown area, yellowing in white area of front and back cover. Corner bumps, rubbing on bottom seam, spine has rubbing and yellowing (fully readable spine). Inner gatefold nice, small 1" split starting on bottom seam.
INNER SLEEVE in VG+ condition, slight creasing/yellowing. All seams are intact!

Notes

US 1st pressing, featuring Robert Ludwig's "hot" mastering on both sides. These were withdrawn early because the high bass levels caused low-grade cartridges to mistrack, leading people to return the album on the belief that it was defective. Another engineer was then hired to recut a much less "hot" version of the album, and that is the far more common version.

Labels include "CP" suffix (indicating Columbia Pitman pressing) and "Mfg By Atlantic Recording Corp., 1841 Broadway, New York, N.Y.".
