ALBUM INFO:

This the last LED ZEPPELIN Full Studio LP, was released in a plain brown paper bag, most common were A, then B right down to the last cover which was F. Each showed a different view of the bar scene, but as most people at the time didn't know there were variations nobody collected them all. NOW a full set will set you back at leased £300-£500. This VERSION IS THE RAREST... and probably will be fiercely bid on as it will be the last one most collectors will need to complete there set of all 6.        

In Through The Out Door is Led Zeppelin’s eighth studio album, and was recorded over a three week period in November and December 1978 at ABBA’s Polar Studios in Stockholm. The album was released in August 1979, and was their last release before the death of drummer John Bonham in 1980. In contrast to previous Led Zeppelin albums, In Through The Out Door features greater influence from John Paul Jones and Robert Plant, and relatively less from John Bonham and Jimmy Page. ‘South Bound Saurez’ and ‘All My Love’ are the only two original Led Zeppelin songs that Jimmy Page had no part in writing. The diminished input by Page and Bonham is attributed to the two band members often not showing up on time at the recording studio, with Bonham struggling alcoholism and Page battling heroin addiction. Many of the songs were consequently put together by Plant and Jones during the day, with Page and Bonham adding their parts late at night. Following the recording sessions at Polar Studios, the album was mixed at Page's personal studio at his home in Plumpton. The album was originally to be released before the band's twin concerts at Knebworth in 1979, but production delays meant that it was released shortly after their performances instead. Despite receiving poor reviews, the album went to No1. on Billboard’s chart in its second week on the chart. This album remained on the US top spot for seven weeks and sold three million copies by the end of September 1979.

The album was named by the group to describe their recent struggles amidst the death of Robert Plant’s son Karac in, and the taxation exile the band took from the UK as a result of the Harold Wilson and James Callaghan administrations. The original album had an outer sleeve which was made to look like a plain brown paper bag, and the inner sleeve featured black and white line artwork which, if washed with water, would become permanently coloured. There were also six different sleeves featuring a different pair of photos. The pictures all displayed the same scene in a bar – where a man burns a Dear John letter - and each photo was taken from the separate point of view of someone who appeared in the other photos. The bar is the Absinthe Bar, located at 400 Bourbon Street in New Orleans and was re-created in a London studio for the album sleeve design.

VINYL: 

(EX++) There are a few very light and faint surface marks, however these do not affect the play.

COVER: FRONT&BACK: 

(EX++) Both the front and back of the LP sleeve are in excellent condition, with no damage such as writing, sticker marks or tears to the sleeve. The only thing to mention is that there is a little light creasing, which is mainly towards the spine on the front, and to the top left hand corner to the back. 

EDGES/SPINE: 

The top edge has a little wear   - please consult the pictures- however overall in excellent condition. 

BROWN PAPER SLEEVE:

(EX+) Considering it's fragility, this sleeve is in excellent+ condition; the only things to note is that there are a couple of light creases and a small corner split to one of the top corners.

INNER SLEEVE: 

(EX++) This is the original inner sleeve; to one side there are a couple of light smudge marks - please consult the pictures- overall in excellent condition with no damage.

LABELS: 

Clean, no damage or writing. 

AUDIO GRADING:

I play all LP's on my Pioneer PL 550-X. This album plays excellent with no distortion, pops, clicks or jumps; the only thing to note is that there is some occasional light background noise. A truly fantastic listen!

PACKAGING: 

I use preformed and standard mailers with stiffeners. I always take the vinyl out in its inner sleeve and place on top of the cover. This is then placed into a soft protective sleeve and packaged with stiffeners for full protection.
