Led Zeppelin released their self-titled debut "Led Zeppelin" in January 1969 on Atlantic Records. Jimmy Page inherited some touring commitments after The Yardbirds broke up and put a new band together with Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham to do a Scandinavian tour in 1968 as "The New Yardbirds." But former Yardbirds member Chris Dreja later objected to use of that name and Jimmy Page changed it to Led Zeppelin shortly before its release.

This copy of (SD 8216) is from the First Pressing over 50-years-ago and is in very good condition. The cover does show some minor wear and the top seam needs repair but I still grade it as VG+. Please see the pictures. The disc test plays cleanly and is also VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl. It was mastered by Rob Grenell at Atlantic and this copy was pressed by Presswell Records Mfg. Co. in Ancora, NJ under license for Record Club Of America. The Side One dead wax is etched ST-A-681461-A LWP AT RG W.

In addition to its original packaging, this album will come with a high quality Anti-Static Round Bottom Inner Sleeve to hold the vinyl disc and a sturdy 3 mil. polyethylene Archival Quality Outer Sleeve.

This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 52 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
