(Swan Song SSK 89400) 1975
Here’s a lovely original first UK pressing of this all-time classic, as issued on LZ’s vanity imprint Swan Song in March 1975. As a result of its elaborate packaging and card inner sleeves, it’s the hardest of their albums to find in top condition.
SLEEVE
The unlaminated gimmix sleeve is in VG+ to EX condition, let down only by light seam wear. The spine is complete and legible, which is a minor miracle. The white card insert is also in solid shape, with some minor spotting. The Swan Song address and Cullderstead credit are present and correct on the back cover.
DISC
Both discs are in VG+ to EX shape, shiny and glossy with light scuffing and one or two small marks that barely affect playback. It sounds terrific. The matrix numbers are A1, B5, C1 and D1, and there’s no WB logo on the labels. The original card inners are both included – one has a small split in the centre of its top seam.
All in all, this is a lovely, complete first pressing of an increasingly rare LP.
