Originariamente pubblicato nel 1976, “The song remains the same” è la testimonianza delle tre serate in cui i Led Zeppelin si sono esibiti al Madison Square Garden, nel luglio del 1973.Rimasterizzato ed impreziosito da 6 nuove tracce che non vennero incluse nella versione originale, viene pubblicato in formato 4LP (lo stesso contenuto è stato pubblicato anche su doppio cd lo scorso 16 novembre 2007)..L’apparizione attesissima dello scorso dicembre a Londra, quando presero parte al concerto in onore di Ahmet Ertegun, come head liner, ha riportato ai vecchi fasti Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones e per l’occasione Jason Bonham, figlio di John Bonham, purtroppo scomparso.
