Description

NOTE: I am downsizing my personal items. Please read this entire listing prior to bidding. Thanks! JimR24

ITEM DESCRIPTIONS:

I stored both albums for the last 40+ years vertically inside their original anti-static sleeves inside the album covers, and their original outer plastic bags opened at one side. I took both albums out of their original sleeves to photograph but did not clean them, so they show some static dust.  Since I have no way of playing the albums, I cannot make any statements concerning their current sound quality*. By the looks of the shiny vinyl, I would expect the records to sound excellent, but I cannot guarantee that. The buyer may want to consult a record expert/collector familiar with how records age when stored in their original packaging (same as still-sealed copies), if that is a concern. This listing's photos show many views of areas that typically show wear in a record jacket.  The covers have remained inside their original plastic bag sleeves, so they show very little wear (except as noted below). For shipping, I placed the vinyl records in brand-new MoFi Original Master Recording anti-static sleeves and inside new protective outer sleeves. I packed the original anti-static sleeves in new protective sleeves. I also placed the record jackets in new protective sleeves (see photos), separate from the original outer bags.

*DISCLAIMER NOTE: These items are from my personal collection, and I have described them to the best of my ability as a consumer. I am not a record dealer, and I have made no attempt at grading. I also did not put them under a microscope, so it's possible that I overlooked something very minor when photographing. Please look at the photos/descriptions and address any questions/reservations with me prior to bidding.  I am selling this "AS-IS," a product warranty is not implied, and I don't accept returns. All photos show the actual items.

  • DISCOG NOTES: 1C 072-04 449 1977 Germany: "Nearly as Magical Mystery Tour Plus Other Songs, but no sticker "PATHE MARCONI EMI IMPORT" on front and back cover, and nearly as Magical Mystery Tour Plus Other Songs, but without the "400001." Sleeve has no embossed EMI logo on back cover.  The 'SHZE 327' stamps in the runout are in upper line close to label rim."

To determine the specific pressing of the German LP, I compared the many versions on Discogs, including matrix numbers, sleeve and label printing, and I narrowed it down the 1977 Germain pressing.  Please see the detailed photos in this listing. I bought the German "Magical Mystery Tour" brand-new, and I only played it few times on my high-end turntable/cartridge, specifically to record it to tape. I haven't played it again in nearly 44 years. Some consider the German pressing to be the best sounding "Magical Mystery Tour" album. There is one very small area near the middle of the side 1 playing surface that appears to be a vinyl flaw, but I don't know if it's audible during play (see photo blow-up of this area). The German record jacket is made of glossy cardboard stock and shows very little edge and corner wear (see photos).  There are several small scuff spots on the front cover (see photos) that are almost invisible. The jacket is a single (not gatefold) sleeve and does not contain a booklet. The Apple labels, particularly side 2, show some wear at the mid-ring cutaway that I believe to be a manufacturing artifact.

1981 MFSL LP (See Photos)

Deadwax Markings:

Side 1: MFSL-1-047-A1 T SR/2 Ortofon (handwritten) 111++ (machine stamped)

Side 2: MFSL-1-047-B2 T SR/2 Ortofon (handwritten) 121+ (machine stamped)

LABEL:

Side 1 MFSL 1-047

Side 2 MFSL 1-047

MFSL LPs were all the rage back in 1981, and they are getting harder to find-- especially in a nice condition. I remember clearly that the vinyl was quiet compared to regular records at that time. The disc was manufactured in Japan to extremely high-quality standards and remastered in analog at 1/2-speed. For some reason, un-like the German LP, MFSL did not use true stereo versions for all the songs. Visually, the MFSL album looks very nice and shiny. The label has delaminated slightly at the record hole, but I assume that is age-related or a manufacturing artifact. The MFSL LP includes a cardboard sleeve outside of the original anti-static sleeve, but no other inserts. The cardboard gatefold record jacket was kept inside the original outer bag open at the top, so the top edge shows the most wear. A few of the corners also show some wear (see photos).  The album jacket was stored inside the plastic outer bag, so it is very clean. The MFSL release did not include the original gatefold booklet.

Payment must be completed within 4 days to avoid unpaid item status and order cancellation.

PACKING:

The records themselves are placed in brand-new MoFi Original Master anti-static sleeves-- separate from the original record sleeves and separate from the album cover jackets. The album cover jackets, outer plastic bags, and MFSL insert are also packed separately in protective sleeves.  The contents are further reinforced with corrugated cardboard/bubble wrap inside an album shipping box, which is then sealed inside a plastic bag. This interior record shipping box is then double boxed in a larger outer box filled with packing peanuts. The shipping boxes are reinforced with fiberglass tape. Note: To protect the contents, please be careful when removing from the packaging.

SHIPPING:

Ships to US Customers only (48 contiguous states only & no PO Boxes) via UPS Ground or UPS Expedited services, which are the most reliable services from my location.  No other shipping options, locations, or changes are offered (see important "IMPORTANT CHANGES/PACKING/SHIPPING NOTE" note below). This item is already packed for immediate shipment via UPS in accordance with this listing, so combined shipping isn't offered. The buyer is responsible to pay the eBay-calculated shipping charge shown at purchase for the chosen service. In other words, the buyer’s final cost = selling price + shipping price shown at purchase for the selected service + any applicable taxes collected by EBay. Please consider the sum total of these charges as the "total cost" when bidding, and please address any questions or issues with me prior to bidding. Thanks. JimR24.

IMPORTANT CHANGES/PACKING/SHIPPING NOTE:

I have already packed these personal items for prompt shipment via UPS to the contiguous 48 states only (no PO Boxes).  No other shipping options or locations are offered. This listing includes significant effort by me to pack the items efficiently for safe transport (see photos). I do not intend to reopen or re-do any packaging. If any change to existing packaging or a different shipping method or location is requested by a winning bidder (including someplace UPS does not deliver), without having cleared it with me in advance, I will have to charge a $25 repackaging fee plus any difference in postage and 2-day additional repackaging time before I can ship the item. If you have any qualms with this listing that I cannot address to your satisfaction, PLEASE DO NOT BID!! Selling to an unhappy buyer is a complete waste of time! These items are from my personal stuff, I am not a record dealer, and I don’t accept returns. Thanks! JimR24.
