LOUIS SMITH & CHARLIE ROUSE "SMITHVILLE" DG mono lp on Blue Note BLP 1594 US issue (1958) VG+/G+. I would grade this lp VG+. It plays great, but has some minimal noise that was not there when the record was new. It may also have visual marks, consistent with a well cared for, but appreciated, record that’s had a moderate amount of play. This LP still plays great and has lots of shine and is beautiful overall. THIS IS A VINTAGE COPY (pre-2000). ALL LPS COME TO YOU FRESHLY CLEANED AND PLAY READY. FOR MAXIMUM RESULTS RECLEAN EACH SIDE AFTER INITIAL PLAY (SOME OF MY LPS HAVE NOT BEEN PLAYED FOR 40 YRS. OR MORE.) This shows some wear and has a couple of skate lines but is still a solid VG+ listening experience. Like so much of the classic 50's vinyl they seem to play on forever. Since this is a mono DG i would guess this is a first press copy but I'm not sure. The label address is 47 WEST 63rd NYC. Smith recorded two lps on Blue Note in the late 50's to great critical acclaim and then disappeared, I think into the world of acadamia and a steady pay check. Sonny Clark is here on piano, Paul chambers on bass and Art Taylor on drums. A very collectible Blue Note.
The Jacket: In black magic marker, my initials back upper left, an x back lower left. A very functional jacket. I would rate the cover G+ overall with water? damage to the opening side. It looks as if something wet was lain on the jacket and it stuck (there is ink printing on the front) and had to be peeled off. But the seams and corners only have light wear. Still a sound jacket. (I will only be citing things not visible in pictures).. ! US buyers (attached 49 states), for single lp, pay Media rate $4.00 which includes p&h, or Priority rate $8.75 which includes p&h.
