Album Notes: Part of the Modern Jazz Series, this jazz classic was produced at a midway point in the long career of American Jazz tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon (1923-1990). This album is known for its straightforward jazz, alternating uptempo swingers with masterful ballads. Having moved beyond the lively bepop, this album is often considered the first statement of his "hard bop" sound that typifies his Blue Note period during the New York Renaissance.

High Fidelity studio recording: November 11 & 12, 1955. Musicians: Dexter Gordon (Tenor saxophone), Jimmy Robinson (Trumpet), Carl Perkins (Piano), Leroy Vinnegar (Bass) and Chuck Thompson (Drums).

Record is overall in EXCELLENT condition with a GOOD Cover.
    • Vinyl: Red vinyl has some light scratches and a little dust. Basically, a little surface wear, vinyl has nice luster. Label is clean and unmarked. Plays clean.
    • Album Cover: Artwork is clearly visible. Unfortunately cover is scuffed overall, with split seams. Prior owner used duct tape to secure top and bottom ends. Edges are worn with some fraying at corners. Ring wear is negligible, and cover is free of any writing.
    • Interior Dust Sleeve: Original glassine sleeve is creased and folded with some tearing at opening
    • Album may exhibit additional minor signs of age or wear.
