LP vinyl record, War of the Worlds Radio Broadcast. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Media Mail. An Authentic first edition recording from the personal collection of a former Radio Announcer who used it sparingly and stored it properly. This program was originally performed live before the Columbia Broadcasting System microphones on October 30, 1938, where a young Orson Welles, along with a cast of other talented performers, created one of the most thrilling dramatic broadcasts ever to be heard, up to that point, on the air waves. The broadcast, portrayed as a "live Newscast", depicted the invasion of Earth by creatures from Mars, was totally live and not overly rehearsed, making it sound even more like a real news program. The presentation, followed an excellent script from Howard Koch . The reaction to Welles' and his performing group "The Mercury Theater of the Air", was amazing, causing many listeners to believe the end of the world was at hand. The CBS broadcast on their wide range network, reached a large group of listeners located over most of the United States, which further caused panic and fear when heard. Up to this time, newscasts were always assumed to be real and accurate by the general public and as a result Welles' was questioned afterwards by authorities, for destroying "The public Trust" in the news medium. This complete unedited , analog recording taken from the original transcriptions, is an excellent way to listen and use your imagination to fully appreciate the program.
