LXT 2721/2 orange/gold – MAHLER: DAS LIED VON DER ERDE – FERRIER / PATZAK
Decca mono recording on orange/gold labels; set of 2 records in individual sleeves catalogue nos. LXT 2721/2 Mahler’s "Das Lied von der Erde" and 3 Rückert songs; Kathleen Ferrier (contralto) and Julius Patzak (tenor) with Bruno Walter conducting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
The discs are clean and shiny with some light marks. We have listened very critically to all 4 sides; there are occasional random light ticks and occasional light background noise plus 2/3 seconds of distortion towards the end of Side 3. None of these minor defects detracts from the overall listening quality of this fine set. The card sleeves are intact but discoloured and creased.
