Description
This is an original copy of the withdrawn first pressing of Lynyrd Skynyrd Street Survivors LP on MCA-3029 from 1977. The record plays VG++ with very light noise in the first song on Side One. There is a light scuff in tracks 2 and 3 on Side Two. I heard about five repetitive light clicks in track 2 which may or may not be from the scuff. I am conservatively grading this VG++ or Excellent, but I think it is closer to M-. MASTERED BY CAPITOL is very lightly stamped in the matrix on both sides. This copy is also a very heavy and thick LP. It seems to be nearly twice the thickness of most LPs. I'm not sure they are all this way, but this one is. Also, I have read on the Steve Hoffman forum that the matrix is the same as the Street Survivors LP without the flames cover. I have two copies without the flames. Both of them have the same things written and stamped in their matrix, but it is NOT the same as what is written and stamped in this one that came with the flames cover. (All have the same labels.) I am grading the cover VG. It is solid, but has wear around most of the edge and some in the middle on the front. The wear is heavier on the back (see the last photo.) There is light wear on the inner gatefold. Most noticeable is on the left side above the person in the center's head. There is also some along the bottom. It also has initials in the bottom right corner. This comes with both inserts that originally came with this record. Both inserts have some bending. These inserts did not come with the LP cover that did not have the flames. The one insert in this set is called Lynyrd Skynyrd - Survival Kit. The other in this set is Lynyrd Skynyrd TOTS, which is their tour schedule. On the back of the Survival Kit is a survey for the band asking what records you own by them, etc. The back of the Tour Schedule shows (in red and white) Song/Musician credits etc. After the flames cover was withdrawn only one insert was included which combined the (no longer called, and not exactly the same) Survival Kit on one side, and the song/musician credits (in black and white) on the other. So if you are trying to be a completeist, you will want these inserts as much as the cover itself.
