Led Zeppelin III 3 LP UK 1st Issue GREAT PRESS 5/5 **TOP AUDIO ** [Ex/Ex-]

An original 1st issue of Zep III from October 1970 on UK Red & Plum. Matrix 5/5 - 1st cut. Please note this is [technically] the 2nd variation of the label. However, this was a huge seller at 1st issue and the earliest 2nd labels would have been available for sale in the month of release - October 1970. Note we have the 1st matrix iteration of the matrix info in the deadwax. We also have another indicator of an early copy - the track Celebration Day is mentioned on the labels merely as "Celebration" - this is clearly an early error. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Deluxe gatefold cover with spinning wheel [operational] printed on heavy card by E J Day. Another useful tool for dating this copy is the inner sleeve. A genuine 'plastic bag warning' inner with date code for October 1970 [1070]. So, it's 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In super condition and has clearly only seen light use. Surfaces are shiny with excellent lustre and just a couple of light marks per side. Seemingly nothing heavy that seems to interfere with audio performance generally - but I do get one brief skip [see detail]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation. Well, if you can't get down to this LP - there's something wrong with ya. A beautiful player and Zep III is truly a marvel to behold on a clean playing original red & plum. This copy is playing loud and powerful, but with excellent finesse into the quieter moody passage. There is, in total, one fault I can pick out which stop it being the complete article. In the long build into 'Gallows Pole' I get one isolated [non-repeating] skip. It's a funny one - because it's not actually that obvious at all.. you could quite easily miss it completely. Some skips are blindingly obvious and others are actually, by sheer fluke, actually quite innocuous and pass with little obvious impediment. It is, however, none the less still a skip. I would argue, given its brevity and its relatively innocuous nature, the issue is vastly outweighed by what is a 99% superb playing 1st copy. Weight it up in the round - overall a highly addictive chunk of audio..
Cover (Ex-)  The 1st copies are "quality" much much nice in my opinion than cover from just six months later. Spinning wheel is fully operational. The front is pretty unworn and unaged - very nice looking indeed. Now, anyone familiar with this title will be aware that the rear is often a bit impaired by laminate creasing from the time of printing. I'm pleased to report that this example is looking smart with very little laminate creasing and just some ageing at the extremities [which is almost impossible to avoid entirely]. The interior looks smart, but the left panel is showing some light ageing. Edge wear is pretty slight for this title and the spine is unusually smart. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity in part thanks to the heavy card employed in construction.
Inner (Ex) Very little ageing at all. Bag present. No splits. Someone had pencilled "Zeppelin" on the rear but I have manged to erase most of it.
