Description

An original 1st issue of Zep IV from autumn 1971. Matrix A4/B3. Note this is not the very earliest iteration, but would have been available for purchase within the first couple of months of release as the LP topped the charts. Note also that the labels are still mentioning the incorrect 'Misty Mountain Top'. The vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. Also included is the original grey textured inner sleeve with flipacks exposed. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg) In very nice condition and has only seen light to moderate use. If you're someone who needs a really quiet background I would probably advise looking for another copy. Anyone fussy will not get on with this LP. If, however, you're not uber fussy and can tolerate a bit of background in places to snag one of these early copies with the typo - then read on... A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly VERYGOOD+ level of playback with a couple of deviations. By and large a great little player, in fact, to my ears much of the LP plays NEAREXCELLENT - but not exclusively. You wanna hear what a red & plum can do for Zep IV? Well it's more than evident on this copy. Now, for the realistic bit. This LP does not have a perfectly quiet background. You will hear a bit of static background in places in those quieter tracks. In tracks like 'Rock N Roll' Zep are so darn loud any low-level background does not even get a look in! But you will hear it in the quieter moments. So, think.. tracks like Evermore & Stairway - it will definitely be evident. In 'Evermore' you can notice it but overall the tracks plays pretty good and it does not detract too much. I found it to be a little bit intrusive in the first half of 'Stairway'. But you are still fully able to appreciate the track. But I am picking fault with it so the buyer is fully in the picture. These are the fussiest moments on the LP. For the remainder of the LP - it sounds bloody awesome. So, weigh it up in the round. Make sure you can handle the background in those quieter moments. If you can't handle that - do not pull the trigger. If you can handle that and recognise what a collectable pressing this is of a classic lp...by all means go for it.
Cover (Ex-) In very nice condition and looking far better than many will do by this point in time. A clean and relatively little worn/creased front and back - just one tiny sticker residue mark top right corner front. The interior looks immaculate - very nice indeed. Egde wear is minor [mostly] with just a one inch wear-through middle of top edge on right panel. The spine looks great with minimal wear. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) In very nice condition. Bottom edge has been split and taped up. Each side has a one inch split.
