Description
Led Zeppelin (Untitled) often referred to as IV or 4 symbols.
This is a very rare UK 1st Pressing on the original Plum and Red (orange) Atlantic Label.
The album spent 57 weeks in the top 10 and was only available with the Plum label for 12 weeks as Atlantic swapped to their new Green labels after this.
This copy has the so called 'version 8' labels.
The run-off shows true first pressing matrix numbers: A//3 B//3 along with PECKO DUCKY (side 1) & PORKY (side 2) in reference to British lacker and Mastering engineer George Peckham.
Also contains original lyric inner sleeve in the dark grey colour with Peter Grant credit - replaced by a lighter version in later copies without this credit.
Sleeve: Excellent
This is one of the most iconic sleeves of the 70's, and this is a great copy of it.
The corners are strong and the spine is still sharp.
It retains the original bright colours with no discolourations or stains.
Would be graded NM if not for a name written and a small 2cm scuff on the rear of the sleeve.
Nothing else noteworthy to add; no rips or creases.
A nice sleeve to go in your collection.
Disc: Excellent
If I like the sleeve then I love this record. The last two tracks on side 1 are a couple of my favourites.
This is a great copy to listen to them on. Both sides play with excellent clarity, with very little background noise and no distortion.
There is excellent channel separation and distinct instrumental layers.
Graded Ex due to a few very light paper scuffs caused by going in and out of the original inner sleeve.
The labels are clean, with minimal spindle wear and no writing.
A record that has been well looked after and that will be thoroughly enjoyed!
Inners: Very Good
The inner on this record is notoriously difficult to keep in good shape.
As a result, it often gets swapped for the later light grey copy.
Fortunately this copy still has the original.
The opening has also ripped but all the writing is in tact.
The rear has also come unstuck at some stage and been sellotaped.
To protect both the inner and the record I have kept the vinyl in an audiophile quality, anti-static inner sleeve which the vinyl will be sent within.
Overall an extremely tidy copy of a very sort after and increasingly hard to find record! A great addition to any collection.
The record is kept within a polythene outer sleeve and will be posted in a padded vinyl record mailer.
