Description
I am selling some of my personal vinyl collection. Many of these records are UK pressings and were purchased by me new in the 1970’s/80’s. They have been extremely well looked after, having only been played a handful of times on Linn or Rega turntables with a light stylus tracking force of 1.5 to 1.75 g.
Unless stated otherwise, the vinyl can be considered as mint and shiny with no significant marks – basically much the same as it came out of the original shop. The covers vary in condition but most are excellent just showing the usual signs of storage. Most have been stored in plastic protective covers.
This album is Led Zeppelin's classic "Physical Graffiti" double LP on Swan Song SSK 89400. This is my "reserve" copy that was sorted away and never played apart from when I bought it and a complete test play for this listing.
Now here is the important information and why this album should be of such interest!
The album has a thick card die cut outer box cover with the 484 Kings Road, London SW10 address at the top. The inner sleeves are thick card with SSK 89400/A and 89400/B stamped in bottom right hand corners (only first pressings had this). The fold out insert is of relatively thick card. The record labels have "Made in UK" and no Warners logo. Critically, the matrix (dead wax) numbers are A1/B4/C1/D1.
These features mark out this album as one of the FIRST EVER UK pressings - highly sought after and very rare (not to be confused with later UK B5 pressings).
Vinyl grading is near mint, it looks to have been barely played. Light scuff marks on vinyl from new from original cardboard inners. Graded as near mint given this is pretty much the condition it would have come out of the shop in. I have preserved records in Nagaoka inner sleeves.
Test played superbly on my new Rega RP6 turntable. Fantastic dynamic sound that puts digital versions to shame. For example, the bass drum "kick" at the end of "Custard Pie" knocks you out of your seat on this LP - I barely notice it on my CD version!
There is a very minor scratch on the quiet section on Side 3 "In The Light" which plays as a barely audible "tick" for a few revolutions. Hardly noticeable but I thought I had better point it out for total transparency.
The cover and inserts are in excellent condition as the album has been stored in a plastic cover.
I dispatch worldwide in reinforced heavy duty LP mailers with cardboard reinforcements either side.
Please see my other auctions of classic rock albums. I can combine postage which saves money. I can generally get up to three records in an individual mailer (a double album counts as 2 records). Typical postage prices as follows:
UK: 1 record £3.50, 2 records £4.50, 3 records £6.
EU: 1 record £5.50, 2 records £7, 3 records £8.50.
International: 1 record £8.50, 2 records £10, 3 records £11.50.
Some countries may require International Signed For so please ask.
Please see my feedback, particularly on other records I have sold, and thanks for looking.
