Lee Morgan with Hank Mobley's Quintet Introducing Lee Morgan Savoy mono "Blood Red" label deep groove, not the later, darker "maroon" label
Lee Morgan (t), Hank Mobley (ts), Hank Jones (p), Doug Watkins (b) Art Taylor (d) Recorded 1958 His second leader date, recorded by Van Gelder the same week as "Indeed" BN 1538, and some might say, musically, a better record with Mobley sharing the front line.
"Blood Red" and deep groove label both sides. "RVG" in the runout on both sides. "Newark, New Jersey" address on cover. Laminated cover and no printing on spine.
Record looks M-/VG++ and plays M-/VG+. App. 4 ticks near beginning of Side 2 then occasional tick that seem to be in the pressing. A beautiful looking copy. Some small light scuffs near the beginning of Side 2. No scratches. Record is super glossy and grooves do not look worn, gray or spread. Record looks unplayed or nearly so.
Cover is M-.
A gorgeous cover. Front cover is super bright and glossy and has little if any wear. Small dent at the bottom of the spine. Tiny spot of heavy wear at the top of the spine and another one on the bottom seam. No split seams. All seams tight and intact. Spine intact. The back cover has light wear and hint of ring wear at the bottom.
