LABEL DESCRIPTION: BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC. • 47 WEST 63RD • NYC with ®.
GRADE & DESCRIPTION (COVER): VG+ Cover has a 3" split on the bottom near the opening and a small chip out of the bottom. High gloss laminate cover. Back has 2 "autographs" by a local Sacramento jazz drummer and DJ and some marks.
GRADE & DESCRIPTION (RECORD): VG+. Some light fingernail marks and mottling to surface probably due to manufacturing. Hairline scratches--nothing serious... RVG stamp and Plastylite P or "ear". Some light crackle and surface noise, but not enough to be really annoying.

GRADING TERMS
SS (Still Sealed)
Still contained in original unopened factory seal. Disc is assumed to be undamaged and mint; obviously this is unknown until the album is actually opened and disc examined.
M (Mint)
Perfect condition, no flaws, defects or marks indicating handling or playing. I don't take the word “Mint” lightly and will only use this grade on records in truly pristine condition.
M- or NM (“Mint-minus” or Near Mint)
Has a very minor defect or two that disqualifies it as mint. Vinyl, Labels & Cover are virtually flawless, bright, and shiny. Minor defects can be barely visible scuffs or hairline marks, label may have a small mark or be off center, cover might have a few small dents, or a tiny mark.
VG++
This is a non-standard GoldMine grade, middle grade between M- and VG+. Some visible surface wear, few very minor scratches and scuffs, with minimal impact on the sound quality. Vinyl will still have good luster; labels may have minor imperfections (small labels or initials, etc.) but otherwise clean. Cover has only slight wear.
VG+
Record will have moderate surface wear and may have light record noise at times but still plays nicely. There will be no skips, and audio quality is quite enjoyable, scratches are light and can’t be felt with fingernail. There might be a slight warp that doesn’t affect sound quality. The cover will have some wear but it is still nice to look at, a small seam split might be present. Flaws are quite varied at this grade level, and can include any of them but not very many. In general the vinyl will sound good and the cover will look good.
VG
Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them.
COMMON TERMS
"Scuffs"
Scuffs are light marks on the record surface that are not scratches. Pretty much cosmetic and rarely affect the sound.
"Fingernail Scratch"
Between a scuff and a light scratch. They are pretty much just cosmetic and rarely affect the sound.
"Hairline, Surface or Light Scratches"
These are cosmetic scratches that may happen from sliding the record in and out of a paper sleeve, and usually do not affect the sound.
"Deep Scratches"
These are scratches that are deep enough into the grooves to affect the sound usually in the form of a repeating "tick".
"Pops"
These are caused from defects in pressing (usually a bubble or tiny cavity where the vinyl didn't fill properly.)
