Description

A unique record of Chopin Waltz in A Flat Major and Nocturne in B Major played by Leff Pouishnoff and autographed by him, dated 1948. On the HMV label No C3773. The following is information about him. Leff Pouishnoff (1891-1959) was a Ukranian born pianist and composer, popular in the western world in 1920's. Pouishnoff began playing piano young, eventually using his talent to help make money for his family after the death of his father. He took an interest in chemistry in school, but ultimately decided on pursuing piano studies. He did well in school, being praised by his teachers and mentors, making a musical tour through Europe after his studies. Most of his fame for his performances came from his extensive playing of pieces from Frédéric Chopin. His fame began to grow, but was halted when World War I erupted. In 1920 he moved to Britain, which would remain his home until he took his life in 1959.
