Legião Urbana - "DOIS" - LP - EMI Odeon - FIRST PRESS BRAZIL - GREAT SOUND VG/VG.
Condition is used. I am selling a few selected LP's from my personal collection. A masterpiece in every way. The music is modern rock, somewhat reminiscent of U2 but is unique and difficult to describe. The first time you hear it, you might think, what is this. Play it 5 or 6 times and you get. The lyrics, in Brazilian Portuguese, are extremely powerful and very worthwhile to translate. I cannot begin to describe this album's cultural and generational significance in Brazil. Many Brazilians age 35 to 60 know just about all the lyrics to this album.
What is fabulous about this LP, which I purchased in Brasilia (home of the band) many years ago, is its sound. Esterio Luxo ("Luxury Stereo") is right. Lush sound, deep bass, almost no runout. A spine-tingling mix. The available CD's and videos on YouTube just do not do it justice. If you are an American thinking about exploring the many different, incredible types of Brazilian music to check out, the 1980's were the golden age and this LP is a great place to start, particularly if you have a nice stereo system.
Rolling Stone rated it 21 in the top 100 Brazilian albums of all time. Wikipedia states, "The lyrics, melodies and personality of Renato Russo brought the band considerable notoriety in Brazil, especially among the younger generation which had grown up under the fear of the authoritarian Brazilian Military Dictatorship (1964–1985). The songs Tempo Perdido ("Lost Time"), Quase sem Querer ("Almost by Accident"), Eduardo e Mônica, Andrea Doria and "Índios" ('"Natives"') were particularly popular.
I am conservatively rating the LP and cover as VG. The vinyl has some minor scattered hairlines which are not significant. Very presentable and listenable. It is difficult to find a nicer copy in Brazil or anywhere else. No writing on embossed cover or LP - also difficult to find. Comes with lyrics sheet / poster.
