Description

This is the original RVG-stamped “P”-pressing of Lou Donaldson “Gravy Train” on the New York USA labels of Blue Note BLP 4079. (BLP 4079 was never pressed on West 63rd Street labels.) There is a needle-drop at the beginning of “Twist Time” (Track 2, Side 2) that is lightly audible for five revolutions; otherwise, the playing surface is in near-new condition, with a high luster; perhaps played once or twice. The original laminated cover has the New York 23 address; there is a lamination crease at the lower right corner and two tiny lam chips; ½” wear at the bottom of the spine; check-mark pencil erasures next to tune titles and at upper left corner of the back slick, and “Review Copy” stamped on the back. The original illustrated inner sleeve is included. Personnel include Herman Foster, Ben Tucker, Dave Bailey, and Alec Dorsey.
