Description
Up for auction is a KILLER COPY of JOHN COLTRANE's 1957 Blue Note classic #1577 'Blue Train'! This very much sought after title is in FANTASTIC condition! The beautiful, highly laminated COVER is in EXCELLENT++/NEAR MINT condition, i.e. all seams are intact, there's NOT a single crease to the fully laminated front, the colours are vital, the back panel is still very white and undamaged! The flat edge spine has no written information on it and therefore indicates a very early copy of this beautiful sleeve! The back panel says BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23 address. The only thing that prevents me from a higher grading of this beauty is due to the fact, that the previous owner put the recording date in biro on the back panel (please see scan). Apart from this minor distraction the cover is in superb EXCELLENT++/NEAR MINT condition! It'll be difficult to find a better copy!
The LABEL for Side 1 features the regular 47 West 63rd address; The Side 2 LABEL shows the all important deep groove with the NEW YORK USA address on it. Both LABELS are very, very clean and I couldn't detect ANY traces of spidermarks around both spindleholes! The RVG stamp is engraved in the trail off of on both sides (Please see scans). Both labels will easily grade as EXCELLENT.
The RECORD itself is VERY, VERY clean, i.e. NO marks, NO scratches! It's VERY, VERY shiny & clean – it's mirrorlike! Playback is just fantastic!!! I will grade it as EXCELLENT/NEAR MINT!! The clarity and dynamic of this Van Gelder production is unbelievable! All in all a GREAT keeper copy of this BLUE NOTE rarity, which will never need an upgrade! Satisfaction guaranteed!
